GL2 – Why are we different? Unique, Integrated and Capacity Building
GL2 emphasizes strategies and methods for students to achieve STEM academic knowledge and capabilities based on applications and experiences Across the entire curriculum. Students gain and apply critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication skills during activities. Interactive learning practices foster college and career readiness with an expanded view of post-secondary education including a deeper learning of real-world careers. Staff use applications to Replicate real-world experiences including online participation with scientists, engineers and others in their work and research projects.

Staff Elements

Leadership training is provided through a Program Leadership Team (PLT) at the site, district, or community level involving administrative, grade level instructors and community leaders in a growth management process to develop the skills necessary to create the vision, develop, and execute the plan, evaluate, and determine next steps. Professional development for staff is focused on inquiry-based instruction, project-based learning, in-class modeling, personal and team coaching, and continuous PLT planning and program review. Staff use Positive classroom management strategies and the development of an engaging and activity rich school culture is emphasized. A multiple measures approach to determine impact and efficacy of the program is utilized.

Community Elements

GL2’s Partnership Approach emphasizes Active and continuous involvement by business, industry, government, civic, parent, and community-based entities to support real-world experiences for students and educators. GL2, working with educators, will map the competencies and skills of community partners to the relevant educational standards in the school district and of the state. Working with community partners, GL2 will work to establish internships, mentorships, summer jobs, on-site visitations, in-class presentations, online exchanges, and more to create a Total Learning Community with the school or community agency as the hub at all educational levels.
